He snorted, "They'd give you a medal." Folk hero or not, Baby was undoubtedly not as popular among those with fervent religious devotion, or those with authority (and especially not those who had both). "Chantry'd canonize you for sure. Would solve their petty problems with you."
It was hard to tell if Hawke was joking, given his still somewhat labored breathing and roughened voice, not to mention the subject matter, but after a moment of their gazes locked, the right corner of his lips twitched beneath his beard. Joking then, no matter how much the words were likely true.
"I have been in worse though. A little poison's good for you. Makes you build up a resistance to it. Ask that Qunari of yours, he'll tell you. And you're a healer, I know you've seen worse. What's really got you fretting like that?"
Marcella stared for a moment and then sighed, shaking her head with a brief roll of her eyes. He must be feeling better if he's responding with flirting, but she would remain cautious for now. To be fair, she had fallen into that one, so she could hardly complain. She had to wonder if tying him up would even be effective-- surely he would be able to break out of anything she put him in.
"It's not wasting my time." Marcella answered at last, voice softer now. Her hands left his as she turned to clean herself and her station up. She occasionally kept her eye on him to make sure he rested and was not trying to haul himself up just yet.
"Besides, it'd hardly look good on me if the Champion of Kirkwall died in my care."

god i want. an au where it dosn't work. where it's just arr g'raha who's woken up, and he doesn't have all these memories and all these people keep looking at him like they're mourning someone. the world has changed and time has changed and all the people he knows have changed, but he hasn't changed, he was just sleeping, just sleeping, and the world nearly ended several times and apparently he helped prevent yet another end but he has no memory of this. they want him to join the scions. he does not know these people. (he barely knows the warrior of light, now, but did he ever truly know them in the first place?) his little sister is alive and well. she looks at him like a ghost. she's changed, and she's older than him now. he acts bratty and loud and brash to cover up the fact that he does not know anything it seems, and he is tired but he was sleeping for so long, so how could he be tired?
he doesn't know these people. they seem to know him. he wonders if he'd killed someone, when it was him and not that exarch who woke up. he wonders if it should have been him who was "killed" in that way, if it is him that lives and not that man who had known and become friends with all these figures from legend. he wonders if he'll always be fated to be a historian one step back from everything, because he simply cannot be a hero.

Who: @mikeyhartman and JD Where: Mikey (and Kit's) place When: July 2024
After stopping by The Mirage to see Mikey, JD found out he wasn't there. So he figured he'd be at home, and went and bought some beers, along with some edibles. He had hoped Kit wasn't home as they were still doing this weird sort of dance around each other, though he did miss her as a friend. Getting to Mikey's place, JD knocked on the door, "dude open up! I brought beer!"

Nikhil had honestly felt like no time had passed since the last time he’d been here in Wilmington for a longer period of time. He had adjusted to the city once again as if he’d never left and that was precisely why he’d chosen it for his move to the United States. He’d been purchasing some groceries in the supermarket before heading down the street when he caught sight of a familiar face and ran slightly to catch up to him. “Axel, hey—haven’t seen you in what seems like forever. How are things going?” He was aware that the other man didn’t really like him, that much was clear from their last interaction but that wasn’t going to stop Nikhil from being relatively friendly, especially since he realized he quite liked having people around who he had met in previous settings. “Hey, if you’re free—why don’t you have a good coffee or something with me? I’ve got a couple of professional questions for you.” That was a good way to get the other to agree, wasn’t it? Even if Nikhil had no such questions at all.

The illusory magic gives more than one guest pause, but even in the hesitation, there's something deeply exciting about this: Pasithee's magic or no, the flarelet surveys the opulent decoration, the sea of masks, and finds a burgeoning joy in it all. All hidden from sight, but all ready to mingle: It's the perfect opportunity to be yourself, or be someone completely else.
It'll make the guessing fun too, if guessing's part of the game.
They've made their decision on what they want to be. What about the others? Smoothly taking a set of glasses from a table along with a few delicate vanilla biscuits, they catch the eye of an empty-handed passerby by extending to them a glass of sparkling pear wine.
"Hey, having fun?" There's a chortle, warbled behind the illusion. "I can't help but wonder how we're supposed to know we got all our decorations, but honestly, it could be just as fun. You want to swap?"

Standing in the middle of Jungle Island with a colorful map of the park spread open in his hands. It was a hot Miami afternoon, and despite only having arrived, sweat was already dotting his skin. After scanning the various attractions listed, he glanced up and looked at Ishita and their two children. "Alright, where should we explore first? The Parrot Bowl? The Serpentarium? Or maybe we should let Mom pick, since she's the bravest one here." When his gaze flickered to Ish, it softened.
Parth bounced on his toes, pointing eagerly at the map. "I wanna see the big cats, Papa! The lions and tigers!"
He chuckled, ruffling his son's hair affectionately. "Lions and tigers it is, then. What do you say, Pavalli? Ready to roar with the big kitties?"
Pavalli nodded, her hand clutching Ishita's. His heart swelled at the sight, a bittersweet pang hitting him as he remembered all the family outings they used to take together. Even though he and Ishita were no longer married, moments like these—where they could come together and enjoy time with their children—meant everything to him.
He folded up the map and tucked it into his back pocket, offering his free hand to Parth. "Alright, crew, let's head to the Wild Isle first." As they began walking, he peered over at Ishita, offering her a warm smile. "Thanks for coming out with us today, Ish. It means a lot to the kids…and to me. I'm glad we can still do things like this together." Even if they couldn't be together as husband and wife, he still loved Ishita and he wanted to at least try to show her that he still care, especially now that they were living under the same roof again. Living with Ishita again had been an adjustment for Vihaan, but one he was grateful for. Cohabitating allowed them to more easily coordinate schedules and be there for Parth and Pavalli. There were still awkward moments, of course. Times when he'd instinctively go to touch her before catching himself, or inside jokes that would bubble up only to fizzle in the air between them. But overall, he was glad for this arrangement. Most of all, he was grateful that the love and affection he had for her—had not diminished.

closed for @axelhughes location: somewhere in midtown
Samira had been standing alone for a few moments, waiting for her friend to get done with her appointment at the local hospital when she spotted someone she didn't really know but knew she had to apologize to. Axel Hughes. That was the name she'd learnt from Gwendolyn and when the other had told her that the man had clear alibi's for the times of all the town occurring, she knew she'd jumped to a conclusion that wasn't fair. "Hey there, not sure you remember me?" She tapped him on the shoulder and waited for him to turn around. "I believe...I owe you an apology." If he had no idea what she'd done--clearly he'd be confused by her statement seeing as the last time they'd met, he'd been the one acting out of sorts.

The friendship between Elena and Layla had definitely happened organically and for that Elena was grateful. Since her return to Wilmington she realized that so much had changed, and yet--she missed out a lot on the old friendships she'd cultivated when she was younger. So Layla was almost filling a void for her that she really appreciated more than she could say. "Thank you for being here girl, I honestly really needed someone to enjoy this with. So tell me--what should we do first? Do you want to get some temporary tattoos? I'm thinking of the dark mark from Harry Potter, thoughts?"

@dxnisheatingdetective asked ❛ i thought you’d like some company. ❜
Lily hadn't been back in Gotham for more than two hours, roughly, when the knock on the door had come. Everything still felt a surreal, moving about in a bit of a daze after the last week and a half. The loss of a parent was tough at any age, but the unexpected passing? It hit a little harder. She hadn't known that her mother was sick. Helping her father get things in order and getting the funeral together had suddenly become top priority, and there hadn't been any real appropriate time to grieve. That edge was where she was teetering now. A breakdown was likely better to have alone. But the second knock meant that whoever was at the door wouldn't be ignored. Likely it was only one person. Seeing Harvey was something she was unsure if she wanted. For the first time since he had shown up in her office with Jim, conducting their investigation. It was a feeling so foreign that she didn't know what to do with it except ignore it and open the door.
She mustered a smile, half a one at best, and stepped to the side to let him in. Habit, though she figured he was being respectful since he had a key to her place. What did she say to that? What did she say at all right now? The lack of sleep and the lack of being able to properly deal with any of it was catching up to her.
"Thanks, Harv," she murmured softly. Her normally somewhat kept apartment was in a state of slight disarray. Between the haste in packing to get out and the fact that she hadn't been home long, nothing was taken care of it, and the disheveled appearance of the living space matched where she was at mentally.

The book store was probably the last place anyone would expect to meet Rylan and to be honest he himself was surprised he was there instead of picking up what he needed online. Strolling through the aisles, he didn't see the man walking as he turned behind the corner and bumped into him. Not being the type to accept the blame, a snarky remark was already at the tip of his tongue but quickly dissolved as a familiar face came into view. "Hey!" Ryle greeted. "Um, I don't remember if I said it, but... Thanks for the help at the hospital, man."

Navy was sure this was the worst thing someone could be selected for. Jury Duty. She'd managed to go thirty eight years without ever being selected yet here she was, two months into thirty nine and was currently waiting in line for selection. She'd gotten up insanely early, overly doing her make up and her hair despite the fact she was typically the kind of girl that only wore mascara on most days so this was a rather new look for her. Maybe she was trying too hard, but, there was a small part of her that hoped that if she were stuck here all day she'd at least get selected. She guess she'd see soon. She made her way up in line, sipping her coffee in the process. "I have to admit, there's not nearly enough coffee in the world to get me through this morning." she spoke, moving her attention to the person standing in front of her, realizing it was Brad from the park. "Oh, well, look who it is. What are the odds we'd both end up at jury duty selection on the same day?" @bradleymorrisx

Despite her return to this place and aware that they aren't roommates anymore, Hikaru was found on a bench at a nearby park at Golden Ward which is her new ward to live in. Again, better than Fibonacci.

"Oh, hello Hiyori." She only sighed after missing a reunion chance with a dear friend from her world. She tried asking random people from her contacts to know if she was really here but no answer.
It was her fault for not being there last month which she was 'away from the stars'. Regretted, even.
"Sorry if you found me like this."

When Nikhil had first mentioned bringing Layla out for a practice match he’d forgotten that it was outside of the city and so they’d had a bit of a drive to get to the stadium but now that they were in the midst of the game, and just about to start the second innings, he was hopeful that it was a good idea. “So—what do you think so far? Do you have questions? I can tell you that the other team—scored a fair total of 143/6, so that means this team that's coming up to bat has to score more than the 143 in the 20 overs they have left. Does that make sense?” He grinned down at the tiny woman who was seated next to him while he sipped on his water before looking back out on the field. It. was a good practice game he’d brought her to; India vs. Afghanistan—two definite powerhouses in T20 cricket. And while he hadn’t told her yet—he planned on taking her to the empty field he practiced in as well after the game ended to see if she could apply what she’d learnt. “I’m glad you agreed to attend this practice match, it’ll let me see how much you actually understand about the game before we sign anything.”

Who: @noa-markam and JD
Where: Club Merrock
When: August 2024
JD had no alcohol in him when he spotted Noa off to the side. Though they had somewhat of a friend's with benefit situationship going on, he couldn't help but bring her a drink. "For you," he said with a smile, offering her the drink in his right hand, "got your favorite." He nodded before taking a sip of the cup he had in his left hand. "This summer was one for the books," he nodded, grateful for the memories.

"But Crowley-" The angel scarpered beside the demon (he did always walk faster than him owing to the longer limbs on his corporation), trying to get a word in edgewise. "We can both talk to him, it doesn't have to just be yourself. He-he seems rather...well, I think it's best to have two of us there, don't you think?"
